Grand Manor Monticello was founded in 2013 by father and son duo Mike and John Akin. Tired of the institutionalized senior care options, they set out to improve the quality of life for seniors and make a difference in people’s lives. The team at Grand Manor is dedicated to providing top-notch service and care, with a focus on promoting seniors’ health, independence, and social interaction. They’ve handpicked the best team members who are passionate about serving others, and each staff member undergoes thorough training to ensure they’re fully prepared for their role at the community.

Founders

John Akin

John was born and raised in Monticello and has been around the long-term care industry his whole career. After studying business management at the University of Arkansas, he joined his father's healthcare furnishings company and eventually helped start Grand Manor. He lives in Monticello with his wife and two children.

Mike Akin

Mike, originally from Arkansas, was the CEO of Akin Industries for 20 years before selling the company and pursuing his dream of owning an assisted living facility. He and his son broke ground on Grand Manor in 2013, which opened its doors the following year. Mike is married with two children and five grandchildren.
